The Name Of The LORD
“I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty, but [by] My name LORD I was not known to them.”
When we talk about “the name of God,” we’re talking about the identity, character, and nature of God. When “the LORD” spoke to Moses, He confessed that the revelation of His name was gradual. The English “LORD” is the Hebrew “Yahweh.” Apparently, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob didn’t get to know God as “Yahweh;” only as the Almighty. This shows that God is intentional with the manifestation of His glory as light. Everyone has access to God’s revelation, but God will determine who the beneficiaries of His revelation are, and also determine the manner in which that revelation comes.
