Bible Build Up
"So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,‘ Says the Lord of hosts. ‘Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone with shouts of 'Grace, grace to it!’."
- Zechariah 4:6
God has ordained purpose for each and every single one of His people. The first challenge is identifying that purpose. Though our purpose is fundamentally declared in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20), it can be tricky to understand the practical means by which we “make disciples of all nations.” The second challenge deals with the opposition we will inevitably face when we actually try to do what God says. Our own hearts betray us since they are “deceitful and desperately wicked above all things (Jeremiah 17:9). The temptations of our flesh that come from the world don’t make it easy to walk in the Spirit to do what God says. Jesus promised that we would be persecuted as we endeavor to follow Him, and sometimes that persecution comes from close quarters. Behind all of this is the spiritual dynamic that motivates friction within our own minds and in our surroundings. Once we realize what God wants from us, it can often seem like the entire world is against us. How are we to manage in these circumstances? God provided the answer through the prophet Zechariah.
