The Cry Of Righteous Faith
Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in [my] distress; have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.
The Bible teaches that no one is righteous in the eyes of God. God also offered to share His righteousness on the basis of His grace, to those who believe in His declarations of truth. He promised that His righteousness would come from a “Root,” connected to King David. In Psalm 4, a psalm of David, it’s David himself that referred to God as his own righteousness. David knew that, though he was a man after God’s own heart by faith, he did not have his own righteousness to present to God for approval. Instead, David looked to God as the standard and source of perfect righteousness, looking for God to provide One after him, to fulfill God’s own righteousness on his behalf.
