How You Can Be New

And that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness…

Ephesians 4:24

The Bible refers to the “righteousness” of people as self-righteousness. As the Creator of all things, God is the One that sets the standards of what “right” is. He is perfect. Genesis shows that the proclamation and effect of God’s own Word is “right.” This means that our self-righteousness is fake. It might suffice to look good to others, but doesn’t mean anything to God. Thankfully, the Word became flesh, as a Branch that connects us to the Father’s perfection through faith. In Jesus, we are made spiritually new, so as to know, and walk in God’s true righteousness by the Spirit Jesus gives. This is the only way to be “right” with God.
