Demonstration Of Righteousness
Whom God set forth [as] a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.v
How do we know that Jesus’ righteousness is greater than ours? How can we trust Jesus as “the Branch?” Jesus’ death, and the reason for it, prove that He’s right. Paul wrote that people seldom die on behalf of a good person. Jesus died for our benefit while we rejected the benefits He was trying to give! Jesus did this, because His death satisfied the Father’s wrath against our sin. Jesus suffered unto death, so that we wouldn’t have to, even though we continually offend Him. Who but Jesus has lived a perfect life, in order to present themselves as a suitable sacrifice, for the spiritual benefit of evil people, connecting the corrupt to the pure?
