Soldiers In The Sea

Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

Jonah 1:17

It’s true that God has charge over the nations of the world and their armies, to use at His disposal. God used the most powerful empires in history as His instruments, thereby exalting His own name. However, God isn’t dependent on groups of people to do what He wants. He’s able to use anything as His soldier or army. In the testimony of Jonah, God used a great fish to accomplish His purpose, taking Jonah captive and transporting him against his will, to do that which God originally commanded. This was so profound that the pagan sailors who saw God’s power, proclaimed God’s greatness, and worshiped Him in fear of what God could do.
