Getting To Know God
Jehovah Sabaoth - The Fear Of God's Total Control
The LORD Of Hosts - The Angel Of The LORD - The Fear Of God - The Providential Sovereignty Of God
Then the Angel of the LORD went out, and killed in the camp of the Assyrians one hundred and eighty-five thousand; and when [people] arose early in the morning, there were the corpses--all dead.
If God is for us, who can be against us? When King Hezekiah was threatened by the Assyrians, he cried out to God. He was discouraged, since the Assyrians looked like an unstoppable force. The Assyrians reminded Hezekiah that the gods of other nations couldn’t stop them. They bragged, that the God of Israel would also be shamed. The Assyrians didn’t know God as the LORD of armies! Proving Himself to be the Savior of Israel as the Angel of the Lord, Jesus went down to show His control over the enemies of His people. God proved why we should humble ourselves before Him, in fear and faith. Those who do, will receive the benefits of His victories!
