Getting To Know God
Jehovah Sabaoth - The Fear Of God's Total Control
The LORD Of Hosts - The Angel Of The LORD - The Fear Of God - The Providential Sovereignty Of God
Already Cast Down
“By the abundance of your trading you became filled with violence within, and you sinned; therefore I cast you as a profane thing out of the mountain of God; and I destroyed you, O covering cherub, from the midst of the fiery stones. Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor; I cast you to the ground, I laid you before kings, that they might gaze at you.”
When God first called Himself “Jehovah Sabaoth,” it was in the context of spiritual warfare. God won the fight long before the testimony of 1 Samuel, causing the forces of hell to shutter in fear. Ezekiel 28 uses God’s judgment against the people of Tyre, to recall His judgment against Satan himself! True, Satan was beautiful, influential, and proud in heaven, but God having supreme control everywhere, cast the devil down from heaven, and declared eternal judgment against him, to the amazement of all creation. If God can judge one such as the devil so easily, we should all fear God, lest we also become profane in His eyes, and be cast down too!
