Miraculous Proof

Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: ‘[The] blind see and [the] lame walk; [the] lepers are cleansed and [the] deaf hear; [the] dead are raised up and [the] poor have the gospel preached to them.’”

In Isaiah 42:7 God promised the children of Israel that He would bring restoration and righteousness to the world through them. He promised a Servant, filled with His Spirit, to perform miracles by His power, that would result in the fulfillment of His covenants, justice throughout the world, and glory for His name. God’s “Holy One” was supposed to heal all sorts of conditions. When John the Baptist sought encouragement about Jesus being the Messiah, Jesus explained that He was the fulfillment of Isaiah Chapter 42, as evidenced by the miraculous healings He was performing, by the wisdom of God the Father.
