Getting To Know God
His Name Is...
The LORD Our Shepherd - The Door - The Mercy Of God - The Goodness Of God's Suffering
The Shepherding Of Jesus
Therefore, in all things He had to be made like [His] brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things [pertaining] to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.
The details to the manner of Jesus’ work as “the Good Shepherd” help us understand the magnitude of His goodness. God didn’t shepherd His people from a distance. The Good Shepherd took the form of a sheep in order to suffer the consequences that we deserve for going astray. The Good Shepherd is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! God suffered watching the world sin and deny Him, but suffered more when He took on the brunt of His wrath against sin, in His own crucifixion. Jesus keeps shepherding us as our High Priest, interceding for us by His Spirit, so that we have access to His aid, according His goodness from heaven!
