Getting To Know God
His Name Is...
The LORD Our Shepherd - The Door - The Mercy Of God - The Goodness Of God's Suffering
The Shepherding Lamb
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth.
Sheep are pitiful creatures, especially in the absence of a competent shepherd. They’re prone to wander off. Without the shepherd, sheep are unable to adequately feed, or protect themselves, or walk with direction and purpose. The Bible says all people have gone astray from God, just like sheep. Hence, we are unable to spiritually feed, lead, or protect ourselves, causing a pitiful end. God, as the Shepherd, promised that He would undertake the suffering required to bring His true sheep back. Though we wandered away, God showed mercy, taking the form of a Lamb, to pay the consequence of our wandering from His goodness.
