Getting To Know God
His Name Is...
The LORD Our Shepherd - The Door - The Mercy Of God - The Goodness Of God's Suffering
The Lamb Of God
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”
The wages of sin is death. To be cleansed of sin, someone who is already clean must administrate cleansing. To pardon guilt, requires supreme authority. The Bible teaches that only God can forgive sins. When John the Baptist saw Jesus Christ, he said that Jesus was able to forgive sins, referring to Jesus as God in flesh! John recognized Jesus as the Messiah of Israel; the fulfillment of the Father’s promise to provide a Shepherd that would lead His people into the goodness of His promises. John also knew that Jesus would shepherd the people as “the Lamb;” referring to the sacrifice given by the Father, to pay for the debt of sin, by His own death, in purity and righteousness.
