Getting To Know God
His Name Is...
The LORD Our Shepherd - The Door - The Mercy Of God - The Goodness Of God's Suffering
"I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture."
The concept of God’s role as “the LORD Our Shepherd” infers that we are sheep being led into a place that the shepherd deems as safe and good. The scriptures point to Jesus the Messiah, as being the Shepherd of Israel. Jesus described Himself as “the Door” to the pasture of heaven. Jesus is the means by which God’s people gain access into His goodness. The Father sent the Son to lead us into heaven according to His mercy since, as the Shepherd, Jesus is also the sacrificial Lamb. It’s by His sacrifice, in place of our death, that we gain access into the goodness of His eternal blessings. We enter God’s glory by Jesus’ suffering and His goodness.
