Getting To Know God
His Name Is...
The LORD Our Shepherd - The Door - The Mercy Of God - The Goodness Of God's Suffering
And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.
1 Peter 5:4
Just because Jesus has called us to be His, doesn’t mean that we are suddenly able to do our own thing without effect. We might be saved from hell, but we’re still sheep, daily requiring the mercy of God to keep us from going astray. Jesus is not just “the Good Shepherd;” He is “the Chief Shepherd.” God’s goodness is not to be mistaken for looseness. He’s still in charge; still in control. Just because we’ve been set free from the bondage of sin, doesn’t mean we have the freedom to roam on our own without consideration of our Master. His goodness is assured, and doesn’t fade, but only if we follow His lead and faithfully submit to His authority.
