Getting To Know God
His Name Is...
The LORD Our Shepherd - The Door - The Mercy Of God - The Goodness Of God's Suffering
One Shepherd, One Flock
“As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock [and] one shepherd.”
The Bible teaches that God’s salvation from the condemnation of His judgment, comes exclusively from His “Good Shepherd.” The Old Testament prophesied that God would take the form of flesh, having authority in the likeness of King David, to steer His people back to Himself. These promises are Jewish in nature. The Messiah is a Jewish King, shepherding Jewish people, unto Jewish promises. Yet, Jesus assured His people that Gentiles are also included as beneficiaries of His work. He suffered for the sins of the world, not just the sins of Israel. God’s mercy and goodness extends to ALL, even though it flows uniquely through the conduit of Israel.
