Getting To Know God
His Name Is...
The LORD Our Shepherd - The Door - The Mercy Of God - The Goodness Of God's Suffering
Going Before The Congregation
“Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation, who may go out before them and go in before them, who may lead them out and bring them in, that the congregation of the LORD may not be like sheep which have no shepherd.”
God has always put people in place to act as a shepherd over His congregation. Men like Moses led God’s people, not just to survive, but to seek the LORD and His goodness. Men like Moses suffered greatly leading God’s people, trying to show them the way of His goodness and righteousness. Later, Moses appointed Joshua to this same task. The testimonies of these men are mere representations of God’s desire to be our Shepherd: Suffering through the difficulty of our stubbornness and unfaithfulness in order to mercifully lead us through the door of His goodness in the real Promised Land – the kingdom of heaven.
