Getting To Know God
His Name Is...
The LORD Our Shepherd - The Door - The Mercy Of God - The Goodness Of God's Suffering
Following The Shepherd
“The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.” Then He said to [them] all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.”
The Bible explains that there is one point of access into the presence of God and His goodness. Jesus explained that we must follow Him. He is the door into heaven. What does it mean to follow Jesus? We must live as He lived, die as He died, and walk according to the likeness of His resurrection. Jesus shepherds His people unto eternal life by example. He surrendered His will, in order to obey the will of the Father; suffering rejection from the world in the process. He gave His body up to death, trusting in the eternal nature of the Father’s promises. He rose from the dead, unto the glory of the Father. Faith in this truth is how our lives are saved.
