Getting To Know God
His Name Is...
The LORD Our Shepherd - The Door - The Mercy Of God - The Goodness Of God's Suffering
Between The Cherubim
Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, You who lead Joseph like a flock; You who dwell [between] the cherubim, shine forth! Before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh, stir up Your strength, and come [and] save us!
God’s work in Israel provides a compelling picture of the LORD as the Good Shepherd. The testimony of Joseph, the son of Jacob, shows that, even during our darkest times, God is with us, guiding us, protecting us from worse, so that He can fulfill His promises through us! God is able to do such great works of mercy because He is the One that is exalted above all. His position between the cherubim refers to the glorious presence of God that resided above the Mercy Seat of the Ark of the Covenant. God Himself resides over His promises on the basis of mercy, to ensure the good things He said, come to pass. The history of Israel proves this true!
