Getting To Know God
Jehovah Ra`ah - The Door To Mercy & Goodness
The LORD Our Shepherd - The Door - The Mercy Of God - The Goodness Of God's Suffering
The Stone And The Shepherd
“Joseph [is] a fruitful bough, a fruitful bough by a well; his branches run over the wall. The archers have bitterly grieved him, shot [at him] and hated him. But his bow remained in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the Mighty [God] of Jacob (from there [is] the Shepherd, the Stone of Israel), by the God of your father who will help you, and by the Almighty who will bless you [with] blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lies beneath, blessings of the breasts and of the womb.”
Though God is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, and supremely exalted above all, He desires to be the LORD Our Shepherd. God sees His people as helpless sheep that have gone astray, and He has taken it upon Himself to exercise His power, wisdom, and control to protect, provide for, and guide His sheep into His pasture. The life of Joseph is a perfect example. Joseph was faced with so much opposition and rejection in life, but God mercifully nurtured Joseph, opening doors of opportunity according to His transcendent goodness, so that Joseph’s suffering was sufficient to provide life for others, just like Jesus, the Stone of Israel!
