God's Handling Of Rebellion
For He [is] our God, and we [are] the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. Today, if you will hear His voice: Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion, as [in] the day of trial in the wilderness, when your fathers tested Me; they tried Me, though they saw My work.
Psalm 95:7-9
Though God is good, we as His people don’t always receive His goodness. This is why God sees His people as sheep. We’re stubborn. We’re foolish. Without proper handling, we’d be scattered, lost, and dead! Shepherding requires wisdom and patience. God has both. Israel rebelled against God’s goodness, but He showed mercy. He restrained His wrath and suffered through the frustration of watching His people sin and complain. He continued to lead them according to His promises by the transcendent control of His hand; showing that He desires to be our Shepherd to closely connect, and open the door of fellowship with Him in His glory.
