Contentment, Rest, Peace

The LORD [is] my shepherd; I shall not want.

Psalm 23:1

The LORD is “The Good Shepherd” to His people. What is the appropriate Biblical response to our understanding of that truth? Since the LORD is our Shepherd, the mercy of God works in our favor to forgive sins so that we can dwell with Him. It provokes an intimate relationship that we are privileged to have! We gain access to His eternal goodness. He has taken it upon Himself to suffer through the difficulties of leading sheep rightly and properly. Is there anything more valuable in life? Is there any “want” that we should prize more highly? Our understanding of God’s identity as our Shepherd should produce contentment, rest, and peace.
