Behold, The LORD!

Behold, the Lord GOD shall come with a strong [hand], and His arm shall rule for Him; behold, His reward [is] with Him, and His work before Him. He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm, and carry [them] in His bosom, [and] gently lead those who are with young.

Isaiah 40:10-11

The relationship between a sheep and its shepherd is a compelling picture compared to our relationship with God. A sheep without its shepherd is pitiful. This is true of us too. Yet, God has taken it upon Himself to suffer through our pitiful condition to provide benefits. God’s strong arm is how we live, physically and spiritually. God’s rule is how we are settled in righteousness and goodness, physically and spiritually. God’s own goodness enables us to receive rewards despite our condition. We are protected, led, and settled physically and spiritually because of God. We are carried into the door of His eternal kingdom by His mercy.
