Getting To Know God
His Name Is...
The LORD Who Sanctifies - The Tabernacle - The Worship Of God - The Holiness Of God
Separated From Labor
Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.
A large part of God’s identity as “the Lord Who Sanctifies Us,” stems from His work in creation – mainly, the uniqueness of the seventh day. For the first six days of creation, God formed the universe by the transcendent power of His Word. God “sanctified” the seventh day by making it separate from the previous six days. God “rested,” which refers to the absence the of labor He exercised in the previous six days. The effects of God’s “sanctification” produces “rest” from “labor.” In other words, God reveals His authority to sanctify, in order to give us rest from the labor of sin, in His presence, separated from the tough issues of the flesh and world.
