Separated From Groaning
Then the LORD said to him, “Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground. I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt; I have heard their groaning and have come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send you to Egypt.”
Acts 7:33-34
In Acts Chapter 7, Stephen the Martyr spoke of Jesus as doing the same work the Father did for Israel in the days of Moses, but in a spiritually-centered way. The Angel of the Lord (Jesus) visited Moses in the burning bush, as a manifestation of God’s holiness. He commanded, encouraged, and equipped Moses to lead His people from the bondage of Egypt, in the same way that Jesus leads people out of the bondage of sin. The continuity of scripture shows that God has always visited His people in various ways, in order to separate us from the bondage of sin that restricts and corrupts our worship of Him.
