Dedicated To Him
Behold, I am building a temple for the name of the LORD my God, to dedicate [it] to Him, to burn before Him sweet incense, for the continual showbread, for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the Sabbaths, on the New Moons, and on the set feasts of the LORD our God. This [is an ordinance] forever to Israel.
2 Chronicles 2:4
How do we worship God? “Worship” means to “bow down.” This doesn’t refer to our physical posture, but our spiritual humility. We are to lay down our personal ambitions for God’s eternal purposes, thereby exalting His name. God’s work as Sanctifier teaches that God separates us from sin specifically for this purpose! When Solomon built the temple, he “consecrated” it by dedicating it to purposes that were exclusively tied to the Lord, in order to exalt His name. God dwelt there because it was uniquely dedicated to His purposes, to exalt His name, and His alone. This is what worship looks like when it’s provoked by the Lord Who Sanctifies us.
