And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them and walk among [them]. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” Therefore “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.”
2 Corinthians 6:16-17
In the Old Testament, God promised that He would dwell with His people and walk among them as the Holy One of Israel. He promised to forgive their sins, and cleanse souls. Jesus was the fulfillment of this promise as the Holy One of Israel. So, the promise of God has been fulfilled. God indeed, dwelt among His people and purified the souls of sinners by the purity of His own blood. How should we respond to this gift? We should accept God’s cleansing, not corrupt it. Why should we invite and permit uncleanness in our lives, if God took the form of flesh, and died to purify that uncleanness? The proper response to this truth is simple in concept: Humble self. Deny self. Separate from uncleanness.
