Getting To Know God
His Name Is...
The LORD Who Provides - The Promised SEED - The Grace of God - The Intercession Of God
And Abraham called the name of the place, The-LORD-Will-Provide; as it is said [to] this day, "In the Mount of the LORD it shall be provided."
In Genesis Chapter 22, God commanded Abraham to offer his “only begotten son” Isaac as a sacrifice. Abraham tried to obey, but God intervened so that Isaac’s life could be spared. God still required a sacrifice, but provided a ram in place of Isaac. Here, the scriptures show that, no matter how good our gifts might be, the only suitable offering to God, is the one that He provides Himself. So, Genesis 22 illustrates a prophetic picture: The Father would fulfill His promise of “the Seed” by interceding into human affairs, in order to provide Himself as a suitable sacrifice to meet His perfect standards through the offering of His “Only Begotten Son.”
