Getting To Know God

Defense For The Guilty
My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.
1 John 2:1-2
Scripture teaches that we are sinners at the moment of conception, and are born as an offense to God. We are physically and spiritually unable to do anything pleasing or profitable to God. How could we prove ourselves innocent before the Judge who knows all and sees all? This is why God swore to provide “the Seed” who would take care of the consequences of sin on our behalf. That “Seed” is also our Advocate. Jesus stands before us to plead for the Father’s mercy on our behalf. Since Jesus satisfied the wrath of the Father by His crucifixion as God in flesh, who better qualified to sway the Father in our direction? Would God oppose Himself?
