Getting To Know God
His name is...
The Everlasting God - The Word of God - The Greatness of God - The Immutability of God
“And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from doing them good; but I will put My fear in their hearts so that they will not depart from Me.”
Israel was the people God selected to be His special treasure. They also constantly rejected God. Scripture compares Israel to an adulterous wife cheating on God. Would God discard Israel for unfaithfulness? Here, in the crux of God’s New Covenant promises, He assured Israel that His pledge to them was eternally unchanging. Is God unchanging if He changes His mind about Israel? If He changes His mind about Israel, what’s to keep Him from changing His mind about us? God’s promises are not dependent on our ability to be faithful, but His eternally unchanging greatness to change our hearts to be conformed with His through faith He provides.
