Our Great High Priest

And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, called by God as High Priest "according to the order of Melchizedek…"

Hebrews 5:9-10

Scripture plainly teaches that Jesus is to be in first place in our lives. Why? He is the “author” of eternal salvation. He is the cause of eternal salvation. Sinners can be rescued from hell because of who Jesus is and what He did. Sinners can enjoy the eternal blessings of God in His presence because of who Jesus is and what He did. So, who is Jesus? He is God’s “High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek.” He is THE intercessor for mankind; the One that stands before sinners who believe in Him, to present His holy sacrifice as atonement for our issues. By this sacrifice alone, He enables us to have peace with God, and thus, dwell with Him.
