Consider The Height, Submit In Lowliness
“However, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says: ‘Heaven [is] My throne, and earth [is] My footstool. What house will you build for Me? says the LORD, or what [is] the place of My rest?’”
Acts 7:48-49

The apostle and martyr Stephen reminded all people that God’s goodness and glory is so great that He does not dwell in things that we make with our own hands. In other words, our personal efforts to please God are insufficient. Our works stem from corrupted hearts, selfish minds, and weak hands, especially compared to God. What can we do that compares to Him? God is so highly exalted that He uses planet Earth like His personal ottoman! Can we really offer anything helpful or pleasing to a God so great, so transcendent, and so superior? If He’s already supremely good, can we do anything to add to or improve His goodness?
