Unique Oneness

No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared [Him].

John 1:18

As Christians, we walk by faith, not by sight. This doesn’t mean that our faith is blind. True, no one has seen God at any time, but that refers God the Father. Thankfully, God has revealed Himself both as Son and Holy Spirit to make Himself known to us in other ways. Jesus is God in flesh. What we see of Him in scripture is equal to that which we would see as the Father. As the “only begotten Son,” Jesus is unique in this sense. He alone dwells intimately “in the bosom” of the Father, referring to their oneness. So, while we walk by faith in the promises of the Father, we can confidently look to the Son to know the true love of God.
