The LION Of The Tribe Of Judah
“Judah [is] a lion's whelp; from the prey, my son, you have gone up. He bows down, he lies down as a lion; and as a lion, who shall rouse him? The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes; and to Him [shall be] the obedience of the people.”
God selected the tribe of Judah, Jacob’s 4th son, whose name means “Praise,” to be the focal point of His promises to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God would flex His strength to make Judah powerful for the sake of one descendant from Judah. This One is described as having the power of God to uphold His law. He is called “Shiloh” meaning, “He whose right it is,” referring to His supreme authority to judge. This One would be the cause of the obedience of God’s people, no matter the place or time. The power from the Lion of Judah would be in His own righteousness, judgments, and omnipresent ability to make others righteous as a blessing.
