The Same One
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, [though] you are little among the thousands of Judah, [yet] out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth [are] from of old, from everlasting.”
Micah 5:2
God’s promise of redemption from sin, death, and hell are based on His eternally unchanging nature. If God changes, Jesus can’t be the Savior since He appeared in a different form from the Father. Did Jesus’ appearance have anything to do with His nature? God said One would be born in Bethlehem as the Ruler of Israel. God’s promise of the Messiah’s birth in Bethlehem referred to His own incarnation. This is why He said that the Ruler would be “from old, from everlasting,” referring to His own eternal nature. Who but God has an eternal nature? Who but Jesus, born in Bethlehem, proved His eternal nature by raising Himself from the dead?
